Do you qualify for GLP-1 therapy?

We evaluate metabolic health — not just BMI.

Who typically qualifies

GLP-1 eligibility is based on clinical criteria — but those criteria are broader than most people realize. Dr. Kresch evaluates each patient individually based on their complete metabolic picture, not just a single number.

BMI ≥ 30

Clinically eligible for GLP-1 therapy under standard FDA-approved criteria. This is the primary indication for Zepbound (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide). Insurance typically covers medication at this threshold when appropriate documentation is submitted.

Typically Eligible

BMI 27–30 with a weight-related condition

Patients with a BMI between 27 and 30 who have at least one weight-related comorbidity are clinically eligible under FDA-approved labeling. Qualifying conditions include hypertension, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, PCOS, or dyslipidemia/high cholesterol. Many insurance plans cover GLP-1 medications at this threshold.

Typically Eligible

BMI 25–27 with metabolic risk factors

Patients in this range may qualify — lab work helps determine. Elevated fasting insulin, insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), elevated ApoB, or a strong family history of metabolic disease may support clinical eligibility. Dr. Kresch evaluates these patients on a case-by-case basis and will give you a candid assessment after reviewing your labs and history.

May Qualify — Consult Required

Insurance-denied patients

If your insurance denied coverage for GLP-1 therapy, that is not the end of the road. As a cash-pay practice, Restora Health has no insurance gatekeeping. Dr. Kresch will evaluate your clinical picture and, if you are a good candidate, she will prescribe appropriately. She can also assist with prior authorization documentation and appeals for patients seeking insurance coverage for medication costs.
